Thoughts on Therapy

As I mentioned in a couple of earlier posts, I injured my back several weeks ago. Since then, I've had a series of 3 sets of blocks and been going to physical therapy classes a few times a week.

I'm getting better. Progress is slow and steady, which is frustrating. In two months, I've gone from running 2-3 miles about 3 times a week to barely any activity at all. This week I'm up to a whopping 5 minutes on the recumbent bike.

Do you know how many calories you burn on the bike for 5 minutes.

THIRTEEN.

The pounds are just melting away here. Or not.

Here is where I've been spending the majority of my therapy time:

I spend an hour in here a couple times a week. As you can probably imagine, I am usually the youngest patient in the water......by a couple of decades at the least.

I do my exercises, but I also watch.....and listen.

There is A LOT to be learned if one just watches and listens. A LOT.

  • If you are over 60, make-up, especially lipstick, is a must
  • Hair is not to get wet during pool therapy
  • Older ladies talk a lot about food during therapy
  • Older ladies will not pay $3 for a Gigi's cupcake. I will.
  • Warm water makes older gentlemen VERY chatty
  • Warm water makes people talk louder and tell ALL their business
  • Tattoos on older people probably don't look like the original object
  • Swimsuits with skirts do not always cover enough surface area
