Sunday Night Live - Update

It's been 2 months since my last post, and I'm not sure anybody is still visiting the GRITS corner of the blog world. My Stat Counter tells me the blog averages 8 hits a day. Thanks, Mom.

I can't say my email or facebook page has been overflowing with messages demanding my return, but here I am.

If you have been a regular reader, you KNOW there has certainly been plenty to blog about. I've just taken the easy road out and not written about it.

Soooooo, what have we been doing the last two months?! A little bit of everything, that's what. You know, no update here would be complete without photos.

Swimming. We've had two swim meets and I am PROUD to report that both LegoMan and the Princess represented team GRITS well (or is it good?)

Football
. Saturdays in the South are not made for blogging, they are made for college football. DUH! I had the pleasure of taking Papa to watch Alabama pound Florida. ROLL TIDE!

Homecoming
. I must admit I have done the blog world a complete disservice by not posting pictures of my kid's dressed up for Homecoming Week. Such a shame. Here are few of my favorites:

Halloween
. I must say, this year's costumes will go in the record books. At least LegoMan's will. It was PERFECT. And the Princess' was perfectly PUNK.

So, what's news in your world?!

Tradition

Alabama Bloggers

We began the brainwashing early in my family!

This is my twin sister and me around age 2:

I continued the tradition with my family:

We did such a good job brainwashing, imagine the moans when these soccer uniforms were handed to us:

Orange and Blue??? Seriously, we live in Crimson Tide country. I hope someone was fired over this decision. You can see the StReSS on Lego-Man's face. There is NOTHING about orange we like in this house. Nothing!

My little sister and I LOVE getting all the cousins dressed in their Alabama finest for the Iron Bowl:

It's countdown time in our house. This weekend brings us back to our favorite time of year.... Alabama football!

If you can't feel the excitement in the air, watch this.....you will!

ROLL TIDE from the GRITS house!!!

Punkins

I say you don’t have to carve the pumpkin.  My kids said differently.

All I can say is better late than never.  My kids would say otherwise.

Fall, it’s all over us

Yesterday was Columbus Day, the kids were out of school and we were not staying at the Casa de GRITS all day. We packed the scooters, our lunch and most importantly the camera and headed to a local park beside the river for a couple of fun-filled hours.

We had a little lesson on the goodness of Honeysuckle, which is much better in the Spring:

It’s Fall Y’all

image

In honor of the slightly cooler temperature and the feeling of Fall in the air, here’s a yummy recipe perfect for a Fall get together:

Pumpkin Dip

1 (8oz) cream cheese, softened

1 (16oz) box powdered sugar, sifted

1 (15oz) solid pack pumpkin

1 T. ground cinnamon

1 T. pumpkin pie spice (or can substitute 1/2 to 1 tsp. ground nutmeg)

Beat cream cheese until creamy

Gradually add powdered sugar, and beat well

Stir in cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice until well blended.

Chill.

Serve with Ginger Snaps, Nilla wafers or Graham crackers.

Serving idea: place dip in hollowed out small sugar pumpkin.
