‘Fro Me to You: The Snowy South

image

In honor of the oppressing summer heat we experience here down in the South, I bring to you this week a South Alabama Winter Wonderland.

These photos were taken in February of 1973 when I was almost 5 years old. Just for the record, we do get occasional snow here in God’s country; however, these photos were taken in South Alabama where snow is purty durn rare.

I’m sure this is my first attempt ever at a snow angel.

I love the Southern snowmobile! We had flurries in my childhood southern city when I was a child. Once. We keep saying we're going to move some place snowy and cold!

Great pics.

Oh lucky you! Down here in South Florida snow is unheard of. I never even saw snow until I was 19 years old and bought my very own plane ticket to see it! :)

I love the snow! I grew up in Ohio so the snow was much and we used real snowmobiles. We live in the south now. I miss the snow!

Oh, the southern snowmobile is funny!

We are never really prepared for the snow in NC when it comes like that. I always wish the kids had a snowsuit or something.

I grew up in Missouri where there was snow all the time in the Winter.

I miss it...sometimes. But mostly am very happy to not have to deal with it.

I'll have to post my snow pic soon! I live in south Georgia, so snow is pretty rare here, too!

Doesn't look like that snow hung around all that long! We always have snow here in Central Washington, but some years we'll see it like that. Big piles, and the sun shining and it clears the driveways and streets. I like your hat!

What fun that must have been. I remember when my California cousins came to visit over xmas--they loved the snow.

Oh I thought you were going to talk about "THE BLIZZARD OF 87!!!" haha! Remember that? When B'ham was totally snowed under. Good stuff.

I love snow! I miss it so much since we moved to FL from AL. We came up this past Jan and stayed with my parents so we could see it!

It seemed in those days that we got one good snowfall each year, at least every other. Now, just a dusting....

Oh if it would only do that here in Alabama this winter...
My kids would have a stroke, I think.
BTW, I have seen you around (and I know that you are in B'ham area), so I wanted to stop by and say hello!
I hope you get to come to the next BlawgHer get together!
