Mamma Mia

Last night I enjoyed a much needed Girl's Night Out (GNO). After a great dinner filled with gab and laughter, several of us went to see the summer hit Mamma Mia.

This is the Broadway play brought to the big screen, starring Meryl Streep. The cast also includes the still handsome Pierce Brosnan, whom I have "loved" since Remington Steele back in the 80's. My only "beef" with the movie producers, why in the world did you let handsome Pierce sing. I mean would a dub-over with a Jonas brother's voice have been too much??? I had to turn my head every time he sang. It made me sad.

The setting of the movie is on a remote Greek island, which scores BIG points with the Greek GRITS hostess. Big points. Although the reality is, old Greek ladies probably wouldn't dance down the street to "Dancing Queen".

The musical outbursts were ABBA songs and it almost had me dancing in the aisles folks. Which would have resulted in popcorn being tossed, so I refrained with the help of my GNO peeps.

So, ladies (and poor husbands who get dragged along) if you are looking for a very fun movie that's filled with dancing and singing to ABBA....this would definitely be the one. Declare it GNO and go!

I give it two thumbs up and am buying the sound track.

You know I love me some ABBA. My crew is already planning to go see it soon for a GNO. Too bad for them that I know every single word to every single song.

I've heard PB's singing is pretty bad. That's a shame since he's so pretty.

Thanks for the review!

No, no, no, no, no. DOn't get the movie soundtrack. Get the BROADWAY sound track. SOOOOOO much better. A couple songs were missing in the movie, too; one of my faves was just during the credits! (It's my theory that they couldn't handle one more Pierce duet; it may have sunk the movie.)

I've seen the Broadway tour production twice and it is AMAZING. Even funnier than the movie, too. :) You should try to catch it sometime.

Hey Tammy! Thank so much for stopping by my blog! Thanks for the review on Mamma Mia. I wouldn't have to drag my husband. He's seen it at least five times on Broadway! He and I will have to make it a date. Hope to see you soon!
P.S. I've got a contest going on at my blog if you'd like to stop by!

I saw the Broadway tour production and LOVED IT. Everyone was singing along, standing and dancing right at their seats. It was great. Yes, get the Broadway soundtrack.

Thanks for my birthday comment! I'm glad to read here that Teresa is planning for me to go and see it. After I watched the clip, I was going to email her and say that I needed to go see this ASAP...you may have heard that I'm a little demanding;)

I definitely want to see this movie. It looks very funny. But, I'm not sure about hearing Pierce sing now. You're not the firs person I've heard that from.

Thanks for visiting my blog. Nice to meet a fellow Southerner. My family travels to and through Alabama a few times a year. We love it!

Hi Tammy,

Dancing Queen came out when I was exactly 17...sounds like a god show!

I'm visiting your blog for the first time. My husband's sister married a Greek man - and she now prepares the best Greek food. YUM!
They own a home in Paros where they spend the summers. One of these days I'm going to visit!

Nice to meet you.
