Well, most of you will not understand the title of today’s post! But in a few minutes you will.
I went to one of my least favorite places this morning, the dentist. As a child, I didn’t have the world’s friendliest dentist and I have NO good memories of trips to his office.
The fact that I have a mouth full of silver reminds me of how often I went. And just for the record, an after-the-damage-is-done cheap plastic ring didn’t make the visit any better in my young eyes. And who cares about a new toothbrush when you spend that much time at the dentist?
And as I have aged, my disdain for the dentist has remained the same. My dental motto is “no small talk, get in, get out”. However, my hygienist wants to catch up on the last 6 months as I sit with my mouth wide open and drooling on myself. And she’s got an iron hook in her hand for crying out loud, she knows I’m at her mercy.
Today’s routine cleaning turned into another scheduled visit for a crown and filling. Oh joy, I can hardly wait. I love helping the guy provide his family with the ultimate Christmas. Meanwhile, I’ll need to get a refill on some Xanax.
In the spirit of trying to be positive about life’s dental events, I think about this video EVERY single time I go. If you’ve never seen this, it may just change your outlook on going to the dentist. Thank you Bill Cosby!
