This week I bring to you a couple more photos from my college days.  Which seems to be the decade with the most incriminating photos of my entire life.  It was the 80’s and apparently I didn’t know any better.  Clearly.

Just a reminder, for the newbies, I attended a small Southern Baptist women’s college.  Yes, it was ALL girls, i.e. ladies, women, chicks with brains , over achieving babes, whatever.  The college has been around since 1838 and is steeped in tradition.  Some good, some bad, some rational, and some irrational.

I bring to you today……irrational.  These two photos were taken for SOME reason.  Which I cannot remember.   Yes, time is not on my side.  It’s been a mere 20 years since these photos were taken and for the life of me I cannot remember most of the details.  And I am truly sad.  Because something tells me great thought went into the outfits.  What to do you think?!

Image1-64

That would be me in the yellow shirt and my roommate in the sassy little plaid number.  Where are we standing dressed like that?!  Ummm, only in the cafeteria.  Notice the individual laughing in the corner.  Jealousy?  I think so!

Now, let’s get a look at the entire outfits, because you need to get the full visual.  All the way to our feet.  Because nothing screams tourist more than huaraches WITH socks.   Ain’t we sumthin’?

 Image2-51

If I even tried to explain why we are dressed like this to sing a song in the cafeteria for the other classes on campus would mean nothing to you.  I do remember our class sang an original song to the tune of “Kokomo” and hence the so-you-don’t-look-like-a-tourist outfit.

That’s it.  That’s all I remember.  So snicker and snort your way to Kristen’s for more 'Fro-tastic fun.

See? this is what Teresa was talking about! You take a facebook problem and turn it into a world wide web problem! HA HA!!
I don't recall either what caused this madness but I know it had specific purpose! We sure went all out in this task, did we not?!!

BUSTED by the roommate. Ha ha ha, Tash. It's a GREAT memory and the world should share it with us. Too bad we don't really remember. *sigh*

Second: You have a facebook, I have a facebook. You need to find me. Or tell me how to find you. Then we can be friends on there too! :)

Yeah, you can tell there were no boys around! Why fix up right?! I have several pics of me with that tourist grunge look too. I blame the band Pearl Jam!

What a great photo. And I see absolutely NOTHING wrong with those outfits. I wore something just like that to the PTA meeting today. Others were jealous!

You mean you dressed like that as a joke? I have relatives who looked like that on a daily basis in 1985.

I will say... the fact that your roommate even owned those floral shorts... now that, THAT screams eighties. :)

As the co-author of the Kokomo song (kudos to Brianna for letting me help her with that song) that was crafted in honor of Hockey Day 1988 I can tell you that you were not dressed for that song. It was a Jr-Soph/Frosh song all the way. I'm sure it was a Hockey Day dress-up though. I don't remember dressing up in the Cafeteria for another other events. Ah, I miss those Judson days. :-)
