‘Fro Me to You --- That 70’s Life

frobutton-copy-thumb

In this week’s edition of Sincerely Fro Me to You, I am going to share with you a glimpse back into the 1970’s.

For those of you that may have missed out on the decade with the best home decor, you are welcome.

And I won’t charge you a fee for these must have ideas.

Let’s take a look, shall we, into my childhood home:

70sEaster

Oh yes, and how, do I remember that awesome vinyl couch. Why the heck don’t we do that anymore?! The perfect fabric for the growing family. (if you can actually call vinyl fabric???)

And my mother was certainly the Martha Stewart of her time. Between decoupage, smocking, and hand-crafted washcloth pillows….she should have had her own TV show.

I would like to know what the HUMUNGO deal was with that horrible dark paneling. Oh, wait, it was the 70’s. Never mind.

And to think I failed to point out the awesome vinyl flooring that strongly resembled bricks.

And how about those slot machines?! Yes, they are real and actually worked. I have no idea if they were legal or not. We never had to move and change our names, so I guess it was all good.

You certainly won’t find any of these decorating ideas in In Style magazine or on HGTV. And this photo has certainly never been in any scrapbook!!

For more photo fun, click on over to Marcy’s at The Glamorous Life Association HERE. And while you’re there, read the “rules” and play along!

Did you stick to the couch?!?!?!

Hmmmm a greek girl with slot machines in her house.... no that seems pretty normal.

perfect!
I had no idea you grew up in such posh and glamorous surroundings.

And we had a friend that had a slot machine in their house. And it was the MAIN attraction. What was with that trend?

Let's bring it back!

Thanks for coming to my party and being so supportive of The Association.

I can feel the stickiness of a hot day and a vinyl couch. Priceless!

Your family was TOO cool! The brick-like vinyl flooring, the washcloth pillows, AND slot machines?? I would have been very jealous of you if we'd been friends back then. (Almost as jealous as I was of my best friend who had a red, white & blue Bicentenial bedroom complete with tri-colored shag carpet and wall paper!)

Oh...and I just sold a house with that same paneling yesterday. The den has that lovely Steak House ambiance going for it.

lol! i was only alive for 4 months in the 70s, and that time was spent cramped up in my mom's tummy. :) love the decor!

Um, wow. We had the dark wood paneling but never the vinyl couch!!! I could imagine how much that would suck on a hot summer day - yeow!

We had a Japanese slot maching (Pachinko) ... I guess only a few of us could grow up with such extravagances!

And I totally remember the vinyl brick floor - HA!

Oh, that is AWESOME. Wow...I'm afraid I missed the 70's, but those slot machines...now, I could really get into those. "Kids, stick in your quarters and see if you get an allowance this week!"
