Yee Haw

Tuesday’s episode of Spirit Week had the kids get in touch with their Hillbilly side. Which must come from their dad, ahem, if you remember I am Greek and I don’t think there are hillbillies in Greece. *smirk*

I’m pretty sure there are hillbillies no matter where you go.

Check out my little hillbillies:

Oops, wrong hillbillies. These would be mine:

P9300002

(please notice his billy-bob teeth)

P9300003

(refused to wear billy-bob teeth)

P9300004

Besides those two up there, my favorite hillbillies were the one’s found in “Kornfield Kounty”. You know the ones.

“I’m Buck and I’m Roy…..I’m a-pickin’ and I’m
a-grinnin’”

"Gloom, despair and agony on me-e!
Deep dark depression, excessive misery-y!
If it weren't for bad luck I'd have no luck at all!
Gloom, despair and agony on me-e-e!"

"Now, we're not ones to go 'round spreadin' rumors,
Why, really we're just not the gossipy kind,
No, you'll never hear one of us repeating gossip,
So you'd better be sure and listen close the first
time!”

“Hey Grandpa, what’s for supper?”

In honor of Hillbilly Day 2008, I bring to you a blast from my past. And anyone who loved Hee-Haw as much as I did, will certainly *heart* this video. Sit back and enjoy!

All comments can be left at my new number BR-549.

SAA-LUTE!

Can you believe "Hee Haw" was my favorite show when I was a kid. My mom told me this. The other one was "The Lawrence Welk Show." Go figure.

Your hillbillies are cuties.

OH! Memories. BR549 (lulu and Jr)

and the hee haw honies.

Loved that song. And I borrow that line alot for one such family member who is certinaly, and sadly applies "If weren't for bad luck, he'd have no luck at all...."

Loved them all poppin gout of the corn field giving corny jokes.

I was little and used to call Buck Owens, Buck O.

those were the days.
I think I am going to pull out my ole hee haw overalls (with the laughing donkey on them) and join in on hillbilly days.
You do realize that I come from a long line of cultured (and not so cultured) red necks. LOL.

That just made me smile!! Oh, the memories of Grandmother and Grandaddy's 3 channel television. The only other thing we watched besides Hee Haw was the Dukes of Hazzard...the classics!

My favorite was when the family would sit on the sofa. Junior had a great line when he was trying to work a crossword, "Cat don't work. The K don't fit."
