‘Fro Me to You—Old and Cold

frobutton1

Woo hoo!!!

Not only am I excited because I have one more day of work and then I’m on vacation for a solid week, but it’s also ‘Fro Me to You day in blogland. Sponsored by our hostess with the mostest, Kristen.

In honor of the freezing colder weather that has crippled invaded the South, I have pulled out a couple of photos that clearly show that we Southerners are just not built to handle the frigid temperatures of more northern areas of these United States.

Background Info:

These photos were taken during a “mission” trip to the campus of Purdue University in Indiana. A small group from my college went to help out the Baptist Student Union on the Purdue campus. The date was probably around March of 1988.

Unfortunately, I don’t remember the why and the what. I have a vague recollection of the trip (which seems to be a recurring theme of a few college trips). But I definitely remember going to a restaurant where a scene in “Hoosiers” was filmed.

And I do remember the HUGE zit that incapacitated our leader for a portion of our trip. Seriously.

And apparently it was cold…. very, very cold.

Thank you, thank you very much and bless my heart.

While I’ve got you trapped visiting, I may as well drag these two photos out from the same trip:

Purdue3 Apparently we wanted to stage ourselves jumping for joy over the snow.

Purdue4 Ummm, I believe that is me, *GULP*, River dancing in the Purdue Baptist Student Union. I was ahead of the time, clearly.

All righty then. Now that the embarrassment is over, it’s time to move along, nothing else to see here.

Click HERE to head on over to Kristen’s blog and take a look at plenty more photos that have never seen the inside of a scrapbook.

Don’t forget to come back for Thursday’s in December when I present to you my Christmas spectacle Spectacular!

Raising my hand and waving it wildly because I too was the proud owner of a Coka-Cola rugby!
Now that was high fashion!

I had the rugby, I had the sebago's, I had the tight rolled acid washed jeans, I had the big ol glasses, I had the shirt over the untucked shirt. I did not have however any Tretorn's!!! I am still bitter to this day about that!

Ok I feel better now :)

I am laughing so hard at the second picture and the person in the blue coat/green sweats. HOW out of place can one look? I'm choking on my granola here - lol!!! Thanks for the laugh :-)

That was a fun trip! My only memories from that trip are the cold, the Godzilla zit and your fashion sense.

And also the skit where Amy had seizures. What was that all about?

Thanks for the memories. And for not including any humiliating photos of me.

Ahhh, the 80's such a great decade for bad clothing. I am going home next week and I hope to spend a day scanning the photo albums. I haven't been able to participate in this weekly event because I just don't have any photos here in my home.

I was an acid washed jeans gal, but couldn't do the pegging at the bottom of the pants. I just could never figure it out!

"Sweatpants at flood stage!" Bwa-ha-ha-ah!!! LOL!!!

I noticed you had a lot of shoes and you can remember the brand names. I am amazed.

I did not have the coca cola rugby shirt--but the girl across the hall in my dorm did--and I envied her so! If only we could see ourselves from another time dimension--then maybe we could avoid the future embarrasment. Funny, funny post! You are a funny, funny girl! God bless your funny self!

The skinny jean was never a good idea for me....did you ever have the one's with zippers on the bottom?

I love those pics... nothing like a good ol' road trip to help you let loose and provide yourself with enough embarrassment to last for years!

You forgot to mention the 80's big hair!!! There was nothing better in the 80's than BIG hair. I'm still waiting for it to come back in style. *Sigh*

Okay, I had the big hair, big glasses, tight rolled jeans, and tretorns in a wide variety of "colors" to match the outfit of the day. And I still wear the shirt untucked under a sweater - its actually very stylish in my own little fashion world (population: 1). Thanks for sharing!

I laughed so hard at your tight rolled jeans! And flood sweat pants!

I was in college in 88 too, and yes, our photos look like that! The pegged jeans, the giant hair. I don't ming the untucked shirt under the sweater look. It's modest, shows so color, I don't know, I still like the layer look ...they do it with cami's now. I am really HAPPY you grew out the mullet. Fun photos!

My sis is a Purdue Alum... gotta love Purdue Pete! And yes, I am madly waving my hand -- my Coca-Cola rugby was blue.

Yes - I remember the coca-cola shirts very well - only I never did own one - lucky!!! I'm glad I am not the only one in the huge glasses!

And I am also a girl raised in the south and now a northerner - so I can handle the snow. But I remember what it was like the one time it snowed in Louisiana when I lived there. Ahhhh - the south!
